Business case
MemoryViews exists to connect families with their elderly loved ones with a specific focus on improving the quality of life for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Research has shown that access to familiar photographs of cherished memories and comforting imagery can profoundly benefit both the mood and memory function of patients suffering with Alzheimer’s and dementia. By providing products to both families and facility staff to create and schedule themes for residents, MemoryViews aims to provide much needed care and connection to these vulnerable and often forgotten members of our community.
The MemoryViews team is made up entirely of passionate volunteers. In 2018 I joined the team as Product Experience Director to guide them through a comprehensive product strategy and UX overhaul, website redesign, and rebrand effort.
Approach
I began by working with company leadership to clearly define the goals and use cases for MemoryViews and identify gaps between where we were and where we wanted to be. We then performed a comprehensive audit of the existing mobile and Roku applications and collaborated with the development team to identified key areas for improvement and a plan for implementation.

Final app designs
I then redesigned the mobile application to support the user flows we identified and to improve the overall usability and appeal of the app. At the same time we worked together on a company rebrand and website overhaul to more clearly communicate the value of the product and enable customers to purchase it directly through the website rather than over the phone.
Challenges
The entire MemoryViews team is made up of volunteers working nights and weekends, making precision and efficiency of the utmost importance in order to make the most of the limited resources available to the team. Additionally, UX design processes, use cases, personas, brand guidelines, and product strategy were undefined when I joined, making them a top priority during my time on the project.
